Damping

Our dampers are used for a wide range of applications in various industries worldwide to absorb energy making it possible to cushion loads in any situation Probably the most known application are the cabinet lids in your kitchen. But also driver seats, washing machines or belt tensioners are unimaginable without our dampers.

The damper is an energy absorbing device, consisting of a (pressure) tube and piston rod with a specially
designed piston with valve. A seal and guide system seals the tube. The damper is filled with oil and/or nitrogen. When the piston rod moves by external forces, the oil is pushed through the valve(s) of the piston which creates resistance to control the movement. This resistance can be adjusted according to the needs of the application in pull or push direction of the piston rod. This requires a special layout of the piston(s).

Mounted position
Dampers should generally be mounted with the piston rod facing downwards to avoid mixture of nitrogen and oil which will result in a free stroke. Some dampers can be mounted in any desired position, depending on the damper construction.

Maintenance
Dampers are maintenance-free. Never treat the piston rod with paint, grease or oil and beware of  damaging the piston rod.

Loads
Dampers should only be axially forced to ensure long lifetime and optimal performance.
